Subject: indian ragas


dear all,

does anyone know more about the history of the indian raga? what i know so
far is that it is old classical indian music which is played at certain
times of the day and is used to create certain moods. i wonder, however, where
the precise origins lie. for i checked in the web and found that some ragas
use "god", "lord", "universal creator" etc. in there. are they of christian,
of hinduistic or even of muslim origin (i found azrael in one instance...)?
