Session 1: Home and Exile in Caribbean Literature. Papers may address topics such as: travel and exploration, diaspora, nation and nationality, identity, center(s)/margin(s), citizenship, and such others in the Caribbean context. Papers should be limited to 8-10 pages (20 min. reading time). A 1-page proposal for the paper should be sent together with institutional affiliation, phone, e-mail address by February 5 to the address below. Session 2: Literary Theory: Poetics/Aesthetics of Re-reading . The panel will theorize on the experience of re-reading a literary text. Papers may focus on the aesthetic effect of re-visiting a text, especially on the genres of literature such as the detective story or the well-made play; transformation of the text/reader; dissolution of plot; re-vision/revision of meaning(s); re-viewing the same movie; re-traveling a distance and re-visiting a landscape; questions of recovery/discovery of space and recovering meaning, and such related topics. Papers should be limited to 8-10 pages (20 min. reading time).
