Modeled after a similar gathering held in New Zealand in 1995, the Gathering of Indigenous Visual Artists promises to provide exciting opportunities for Native artists, Native Communities and the public. Comprised of Indigenous artists representing the U.S., Canada, and various countries of the Pacific Rim, the 2001 Gathering will feature 6 lead artists working with 80 Indigenous artists in the areas of carving, painting, ceramics & pottery, printmaking, beadwork and basketry.
