DATE OF THE CONFERENCE: May 29th - June 1st, 2001. DATE OF THE TOUR OF CONRAD'S POLISH FOOTPRINTS: June 2nd - 8th, 2001. PLACE: Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland, and The House of the Journalist, Kazimierz Dolny, Poland. The English Department, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland, will have the honor and pleasure to host its third international Joseph Conrad conference between May 29th and June 1st, 2001. Conradians and their spouses are heartily invited to attend. The scholarly proceedings (in English) will consist of papers on various aspects of Joseph Conrad's life and works and matters related thereto (Conrad's Polish, Central- and East-European contexts will be one of the focuses of the conference). Select papers from the conference will be published in a volume of proceedings in the series _Conrad: Eastern and Western Perspectives_ published by East European Monographs, Boulder, USA, and Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland, and distributed by Columbia University Press, New York. We plan to follow the conference between June 2nd and 8th by a tour of Conrad's Polish Footprints taking in Cracow, Zakopane, Lublin and Warsaw. If you plan to deliver a paper at the conference, please submit its one-page abstract urgently: abstracts submitted after March 15th will not be included into a booklet of abstracts printed for the conference.
