For those who read French, there is an interesting volume edited by Didier
Folleas: Putain d'Afrique! Albert Londres en terre d'ebene (Arlea 1998).
These photos were "discovered" recently. Albert Londres took them in 1928
during his trip as a journalist investigating the construction of the
Congo-Ocean railway. The pictures are more interesting than the text and
serve as a valuable companion to Londres' remarkable book that caused
quite a stir when published in the late 1920s.
