Session Theme: Cultures of Otherness: Gender, Education, Empire
Session Organiser: Teresa Malafaia

The session aims at expanding the cultural canon and developing critical understanding of Gender, Education, Empire in diverse discourses. It will analyse how images of gender and educational assumptions have shaped "colonial encounters" and determined/generated our contemporary multi-ethnic nations; in this context it will explore cultures of otherness in their tensions and problematic configurations.

Offers of papers, accompanied by an abstract of 150-200 words, should be sent by post or email to
