What's wrong with sending our children to private schools? (Is Georgetown not a private educational institution?) So long as the federal gov't decides to spend the tax money on weapons to further destroy Iraq and whatever other countries it sees fit, rather than putting it into the future of the children through decent public educational systems I see no big problem with spending the extra dollar to make sure that a child gets a solid education with which he or she might later help to change existing problems within this society that forces students to pay exhorbitant prices for textbooks, etc. 2. While it is nice to live in the world of ideas, reality at some point sets in on everyone when they have a high heating bill, rent, mortgage, high private school (university or primary/high school- take your pick) etc. While I do not support the current US president I was happy to receive my $300. Why, I recently had to relocate and am in the process of trying to find a job and it came in pretty handy to help pay my rent? If that money had not have come I would be struggling even more. We all struggle at some point- that's life. 3. Maybe instead of arguing over the tax rebate people should take up an argument about how much $$ is being spent on bombs annihilate 'third world' countries for the sake of US national interests. The U.S. spent 37% of the world total on weapons last year. That's more than all of the EU countries combined. I would say that that's repugnant considering that not one missile has been fired at this country in all of its years. Could that money not better be spent on a socialized health care plan, welfare programs, education, etc.? greg __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
