I kiss y our monstrous bastard arse, and you find the state and most muddled status is something called Israel. _________________________________________________ [In this latest report from Ha'aretz on the assassination of the head of the
PFLP, we find that the American weapons used by Israel to carry out this
heinous act damaged the home of and injured several American citizens. Of
course, it leads to the question of why a life is more important because its
bearer also holds an American passport, but one can hope that, if Americans
are told about this (and as yet there has been no report of this in American
media that I am aware of) it may help to shed some light on what kind of
brutality Americans are paying for with our tax dollars. We also see the
sudden determination by the IDF, in the wake of this attack, that the PFLP
was actually behind several small car bombs that were attributed to other
groups, or no groups, when they actually occurred. Draw your own
conclusions. - MP]

IDF kills PFLP chief; U.S. to Israel: Explain American injuries

By Amira Hass, Ha'aretz Correspondent and Ha'aretz Service

Abu Ali Mustafa, the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of
Palestine, was killed Monday by Israel when an IAF helicopter fired missiles
into his office in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Mustafa, who held the
post of PFLP secretary-general, is the most senior Palestinian to be
assassinated by Israel since the start of the Intifada uprising 11 months
ago.

An attack helicopter fired several missiles at the office of Mustafa, which
is in a three-storey home in Ramallah, and is on a street that runs parallel
to the street where Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat has his
West Bank offices.

Four Palestinians were lightly wounded in the attack.

Israeli security sources said that Mustafa had been involved in
orchestrating a wave of attacks and that the hit had been carried out to
save lives in Israel.

The IDF spokesperson confirmed the attack and said the PFLP had been
responsible for a number of attacks inside Israel, including a car bomb
placed near the Russian Compound area in downtown Jerusalem last week and a
bomb hidden inside a watermelon that was placed on a Jerusalem bus several
weeks ago. There were no injuries in either attack.

United States Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer asked Israel on Monday
afternoon to explain why it had carried out an attack on the building when
it contained American citizens.

Three families holding American citizenship were in the building that also
housed Mustafa's offices when he was killed. Two of the four people lightly
wounded in the attack were children with American citizenship.

"We pay our taxes in the U.S. and this money is used to give the Israelis
weapons which they have used to attack my home," said Rhada Daes, a mother
of four, who was born in New York and moved to Ramallah three years ago with
her family.

The Prime Minister's Office said in response that the organizers of the
operation had been unaware of the fact that there were American citizens in
the building, and that the attack would not have taken place had they known.

Mustafa was also involved in several car bomb attacks: In February, four
Israelis were lightly injured in the Beit Yisrael neighborhood of Jerusalem;
in April eight Israelis were lightly injured in Or Yehuda; and in July four
Israelis were lightly injured in Yehud.

The PFLP also claimed responsibility for the attack in the Gaza Strip on
Saturday in which two armed Palestinians infiltrated the Marganit military
base and killed three IDF soldiers, and injured seven others, before being
killed themselves. But Israeli security said the PFLP made the claim to
protect the Fatah faction which was really behind the attack.

Mustafa, 63, became leader of the PFLP after founder George Habash stepped
down in July last year. The radical Marxist faction of the Palestinian
Liberation Organization refuses to recognize the Oslo Accords and all other
agreements between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.

Mustafa came to Palestinian Authority-controlled areas in September 1999,
after the PA said it would restrain his terror activities. At the onset of
the Al-Aqsa Intifada in September he established a military cell that
operated throughout the West Bank and instructed them to carry out attacks
inside Israel.

The cell primarily used booby-trapped cars to carry out attacks, with the
goal of increasing the number of casualties in each attack. Mustafa also
helped build an infrastructure of Arab collaborators in East Jerusalem, some
of whom were arrested last week by the Shin Bet security service.

______________________________________________________________________

Jewish Peace News is a service provided by A Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP).

For more information about JVP, please visit our web site at
http://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org

A Jewish Voice for Peace is a San Francisco Bay Area grassroots
organization dedicated to the human, civil and economic rights of Jews, Palestinians, and all peoples in the Middle East.

SUBSCRIBE to our daily "news and information" service by sending a message to:

jewishpeacenews-subscribe-AT-yahoogroups.com

JOIN the Jewish Voice for Peace community mailing list (no more than one message per week), which features Middle East peace information and Bay Area Jewish community activist updates, by sending a message to:

jewishvoiceforpeace-subscribe-AT-yahoogroups.com

To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to:
JewishPeaceNews-unsubscribe-AT-yahoogroups.com

Your use of Yahoo!
