Indigenous Visions: Honoring Traditions/Creating Futures

The organizers are pleased to announce a conference focusing on issues
crucial to indigenous communities in Idaho and the Northwest, as well as
concerns pertinent to all Native peoples living within the territorial
borders of the United States and Canada.

The conference will feature concurrent sessions, keynote speakers, and a
special program for Native youth. The organizers welcome proposals for paper
presentations, workshops, roundtables, and symposia. Topics of interest may
include but are not limited to: health and medical care, education,
literature, art, culture, repatriation, spirituality, linguistics/languages,
sovereignty/nationhood, land and environmental issues, and the broad scope
of political and economic concerns. The conference also seeks submissions
from people and organizations who would like to share their knowledge,
experiences, and strategies for building Native Studies programs and
educational opportunities on and off reservations/reserves. This conference
is organized and co-chaired by Native faculty who designed it to reflect
indigenous sensibilities and values.
