The Department of Interpersonal Communication at Bowling Green State 
University is seeking applicants for the position of associate 
professor in communication and culture beginning August 2002.

Qualifications include a Ph.D., a strong record of publication in the 
area of communication and culture, and teaching experience. A 
research focus on Asian American cultures, Latino/a cultures or 
African American cultures, from an interpretive and/or critical 
perspective is desirable.

Responsibilities include undergraduate instruction in intercultural 
communication, the interpersonal communication core and areas of 
specialization; graduate instruction in the School of Communication 
Studies master's and Ph.D. programs; research and publication; 
mentoring of junior faculty; and participation in departmental/school 
programs and service activities.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels 
for rank and position in keeping with candidate experience and 
credentials.

The department of Interpersonal Communication has 10 faculty members 
and approximately 400 undergraduate majors. The graduate program in 
Communication Studies includes approximately 70 students.

The Department of Interpersonal Communication and the Department of 
Journalism comprise the School of Communication Studies, which offers 
joint master's and Ph.D. programs. The Ph.D. emphases are mass media 
studies and communication and culture. The master's emphases are 
organizational communication/ public relations and communication 
research. The School is in the College of Arts and Sciences.
