Since I've been away and have NO what clue what the controversy is 
all about that prompted eldorra's post, it is the tenor that I found 
unnecessary.  I know that the first part of my sentence (ie. I have 
no clue) will prompt some to disqualify me from commenting on the 
debate: which is why I was careful to indicate I did NOT wish to take 
sides nor curtail anyone's right to speak.

Simply, I did not think the argument was served by its language. I'd 
be much obliged if someone on the list could let me/us know what this 
original argument was.
