Subject: white men saving brown women from brown men again?


Dr. Thobani's powerful interviewed was aired today by
Amy Goodman and one thing she talked about is very
important: the commodification of Afghan women, the
use of women's oppression as the very well-known and
ancient "civilizing mission" for the Western powers to
invade the savage, the commodification of RAWA's voice
and making it the old "WHITE MEN SAVING BROWN WOMEN
FROM BROWN MEN" issue, and depicting brown women as
victims. 

I am just troubled to see that feminist groups in
Canada do not have any loud voice in  defending Dr.
Thobani's right to free speech; even in the times of
crisis the feminists are standing by their own
patriarchical oppressive Nation States? At least now
it is clear that RAWA is much more revolutionary than
white feminist! The latter do not have courage to
denounce their State power.
