Subject: imperial histories

hi all. i'm doing a course called 're-reading the histories of imperialism.' i
would like to have my students read some of the classic imperial histories of
their colonies written by european historians during the 18-20th centuries.
does anyone have any suggestions. all regions are fine.

i'm also looking for the most representative 'nationalist' histories written
by colonized elites/historians during the periods of 'independence'...

thanks for any suggestions!
