Subject: re: spivak and a question about postcoloniality

First about Spivak: I actually beg to disagree--for the most part Spivak is
very readable--focusing on themost reccent book forexample the last three
sections are eminently readable--the section on Culture is a bit elliptical
but quite cogent wading through a variety of works from different genres.
the first chapter on Philosophy is ver, very dense and at times somehwat
opaque but in general is Spivak really less readable than certain other poco
or broadly put postsructuralist critics.

Also, especially when one is making a strong statement or a harsh indictment
of people, I think chosing anonymity is really cowardly. I am presuming that
Wolf Factory is a pseudonmyn of sorts--why use the shield when blastig
someone. I am all for intellectual blasting --at critics and other human
beings but I will sign my name at the bottom especially if I have strong
convictions and can stand behind them.

And now for my query and a very academic one at that: Does anyone know or
can produce a genealogy of sorts for the term postcoloniality--I was
wondering when it was actually introduced as a term . I know spivak has a
great discussion about the term but I wasn 't sure whether she was the first
to have used it.
