Dear Mohammed,

Zizek's psychoanlytically inflected sexual jokes aside, yes, SOME
anti-colonialists are racists too. For example, anti-colonial, upper caste
Brahmins in India oppress Dalits in the name of "untouchability," which is a
form of racism. In other words, casteism is a form of racism that is specific
to the Indian context. As a discourse it is derived from categories of racial
purity (the so-caled Aryan heritage of the Brahmins)and color (Aryans are
usually fairer than Dravidians - caste-varana-color). Some "anti-colonial"
Brahmins, if not all, subscribe naively to the liberal ideology of
multiculturalism as they do religiously to the ideology of Hindutva.

Please excuse me for this cryptic reply but I have to run for my Thanksgiving
break.....

Best,

satish
