But this does not stand up to a remote examination of pre and post-poll Bangladesh of last two months.

Of course, much depends on how you define freedom and rights. Should we include
people's free and not intimidated choice to vote someone? If we exclude them on
the basis that there is no need to consider the means and only the goal - the seizure
of power, should we not then exclude the basic human rights?

So, using socio-political scenario of post and pre election Bangladesh,
what is the true story?

The election is characterised by terrorisation of voters, with the country
went to the poll in the middle of this crisis of human rights. Although, the rate of violence after the election confirms the terrorisation of voters before, the BNP-Jamat alliance claim office celebrating by killing of Awami league's workers; showing despicable cowardice by raping Hindu women; looting of properties; and lastly terrorise these voters for the future elections.

Begum Khaleda (the present Prime Minister of Bangladesh) might be fortunate to come to power through this process as an outcome of the election. Yet a victory through terror will not fundamentally alter the
human rights that a democracy stands for. It's always better to abstain from gutless acts of repressing marginalised groups and state-level crime against humanity.
