The last colonial wars have yet to be completed. The plight of the
Palestinian people is a colonial conflict which has evoked distorted sympathy
for the colonial power - Israel - instead of evoking sympathy and
international action in order to foment the creation of an independent
Palestinian territory. True their situation is colonial in nature - the
mere imbalance of military might is one clue: rock throwing young men are
answered by helicopter gunships and tanks. It is the typical response of the
colonial power to address the grievance of the dominated by utilizing
exaggerated force and violence and then to demonize those who are reacting
out of the frustration of being so powerless, so dominated, so marginalized.

The last colonial wars have been playing themselves out for quite some time:
Israel/Palestine, Northern Ireland, and Puerto Rico are the ones that are
most obvious right now. All three have groups that are actively seeking
independence through armed insurrection. All three have groups that seek
independence through more political and less violent means. And all three
have a history of being subjected to colonial foreign domination that has
resulted in the development of these movements that strive to establish an
independent nation. Finally, all three have witnessed the violent and brutal
responses of the colonial powers (Israel, Britain, the United States).

The last colonial wars are an abomination to mankind until the colonial
powers realize the need to relinquish control over these territories. The
United Nations has ultimately failed in its mission to free colonies and
usher them into independence status.

Thanks.
