I am not aware of any group claiming to have lit the fires for any reason; therefore how can one see discrimination in a failure to identify such a hypothetical group as a threat? This is not to say that the conflation of Islam with OBL and the resultant stereotype of a Muslim Fanatic is justified, but at least there is a nexus for such conflation. What nexus is there for the equation "Australian" = "Arsonist"?

Of the arsonists identified, how many have claimed an agenda? The way they are being presented here in South Africa is as psychologically disturbed individuals, operating without any motive other than the search for a thrill.

Of course, any comments are invalidated if someone can find a photograph of Steve Waugh with a match in his hand...
