Thanks Grant for putting the Zimbabwean issue on the list agenda. Judging by
the non-discussion on this list
even 'progressives' in the North/West seem oblivious to the catastrophic
outcome of these elections!!!

Robert Mugabe seems to have won the Zimbabwean election with 1.7 million
votes against Morgan Tsvangirai's 1.3 million, and has ordered the army
deployed to suppress "rebellious elements".

And South Africa looks set to recognise the elections as free and fair.
Honestly, I feel ashamed. And worried, because if such behaviour is
tolerated there, will it happen to me here in South Africa?

Oh hell. Any suggestions on how to make supporting a brutal and repressive
government sound morally acceptable, oh fellow listees in the US of A? At
least you've got experience in that sort of thing...
