Likewise, coconut, in Singapore and Malaysia, implies brown Englishmen, or 
the ethnic Indian gentry. It is used in a tone meant to ridicule. There was 
another term that turned the "banana" epithet around: boiled egg -- it stood 
for white outside, yellow inside, referring to what SE Asia refers to as 
Caucasians (meaning white) who were, at heart, sympathetic to, or 
sycophantic towards, the East Asian worldview.
