i think most people who are seeking a return to "original" islam
(whatever that means) are followers of wahhibism--i dont think of it in
terms of varying degrees. also, the interpretation of returning to
"original" islam differs from group to group--many muslims are followers
of what they consider orthodox islam, and they would argue that
wahhabists are loony, further, wahhabists are critical of most
"mainstream" muslims, and vice versa. placing religion before ethnicity
or nationality seems to be more of a personal choice rather than a sort
of fundamentalism.

Would i be wrong in saying that all Islamic or 'Muslim Brotherhood'
ideologies and groups are to varying degrees influenced by Wahabbism?
Meaning, all those groups that claim to be seking or holding the truth to
a return to some original Islam, that tend to be conservative in terms of
social values, that tend to be hyper-critical of both Western imperialism
and national corruption and leadership, that place Islam before ethnicity
or nationality, etc.? Basically, aren't all Muslim 'fundamentalists' (or
political Islamists, to use another term) Wahabbist to some extent?
 .O.

yes, but it is definitely centralized in saudi, in mecca and medina. and
i know there is quite a following in dagestan and chechnya in the
northern caucasus as well as the united arab emirates, oman, and kuwait

but they refer to themselves as al-muwahhidun (the unitarians), wahhabism
is the term they are called
