Thanks for forwarding this, Julian. It's rather scary to see how deeply some people believe Islam is a "barbaric" religion. The Israeli propoganda regarding this war is based almost completely on that stereotype -- that the Palestinians don't know how to be peaceful because it is part of their religion and their culture. It's especially insulting when these ideas spin into stories about parents who proudly send their children out to throw stones and strap on bombs -- as if Palestinian parents aren't human enough to understand the protective love that parents have toward their children.

The points the writer made about Yasser Arafat: While I don't like Arafat at all, I do think that he is the leader of the Palestinian people and for all his bad points, he has been the one who kept the issue of Palestine at the top of the world's priority list. Does anyone else share muddled feelinsg about Arafat?
