A little extreme, no? :)

Scholarly is as scholarly does. Stay and discourse in scholarly ways if you wish. No-one is stopping you. It is perfectly reasonably to leave when one wishes to, and perfectly reasonably to invite others to join you. 

Internet lists are hardly well-bounded entities, and the social interactions implied by them quickly assume dominant orthodoxies, that some people feel uncomfortable with. No blame, this is just what happens. If people remain uncomfortable they eventually leave. 

Which is better, leaving and losing possible collegial connections, or leaving and starting up another group that is more aligned with their own interests?
