This is really getting so futile, someone says black and another says white.
The guy was asking if there would be interest in a more academic profile -
that's it. It's not a conspiracy, or some ivory tower mentality, just that.
I think the majority of people who work in po-co theory (I also work in
queer theory) fight on a daily basis within their institutions and with the
faculty, and in some cases students on a daily basis. Academics have carved
out a space in academia, have TAUGHT and have been activists. This ivory
tower bollocks is offensive, mostly propagated by people who crap on about
the irrelevance of academic life to 'real life'.

I am, like all, busy; this is not a hobby for me; I am a graduate student
trying to finish my doctorate whilst teaching (for a pittance) and would
someday like to make a difference inside academia; I welcome debate; I do
not wish to see mail which is pointless bickering and bitching.

Comments like 'Don't be sectarian, don't leave the chaos of the masses.
Don't we work enough in *silence*?' do very little constructively. The
'chaos of the masses'? - what the hell does this mean (I rapidly feel like I
have fallen into a Pynchon novel).

I have a number of theoretical and literary issues at the moment, which I
just do not feel would be engaged with here. To my mind one of the most
interesting post done here is on homosexuality and poco theory, by Andrew
Lesk. Has it been answered, has it buggery. The list has an argument about
having another list. Or more name calling about Israel-Palestine. This list
is not functioning as a list about poco lit and theory.

So yes, another list more concerned with things academic would be grand and,
yes Andrew I have some stuff which I will send you.
