Subject: Question re. locals writing about travelers
Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 08:15:58 -0800 (PST)

Hello to all,

I would like know if there is any
literature/accounts/writings by local people in the
West (Europe/North America) about non-Western visitors
who either studied, were exiled to Western cities, or,
for some reason, happened to visit for a long time
during the 18-19th century, or earlier.

Also, if you can suggest material related to writings
about non-Westerners visiting other non-Western
countries (or vise versa: writings about Westerners
visiting non-Western places), that would be great too.

I can easily find material about travel writings (i.e.
people who wrote about their travels), but I am having
difficulty locating any writings of people who
met/encountered visitors/tourists/students passing by
their cities? Any clues, suggestions, please let me
know.

THX to all & happy holidays,

Suha Kudsieh
