Friends,

Calling on your generous goodwill to help a colleague in trouble. Can't
think of a better place for her to get a speedy answer. Either answer
the list or to her, MARVA, directly. I told her if anyone could work
miracle, would be you.

This upcoming spring semester, my teaching involves a course in
Non-Western
Literature. Unfortunately, the two texts I have successively selected
are both out of print. Is there a pretty good comprehensive anthology
that you might suggest? One that has biographical notes and a map if
possible? I am scrounging, but so far, haven't found anything
worthwhile.

My first choice was "Global Literatures" edited by Biddle and the
second was "Modern Literatures of the Non-Western World: Where the
Waters are Born" edited by Jayana Clerk and Ruth Siegel--both are out of
print.

I too have mightily enjoyed the last pointed yet ADULT exchanges between
scholars of good will. The less than adult, I ignore anyway. Sometimes,
they do bring a smile to my face. Comes from raising teenagers, I
suppose. One learns that they eventually grow up and do one proud. Merry
and restful break to all, cz
