I can come up with plenty of fictional examples of this, for example, in the writing of Mukheerjee, Achebe, Naipaul, etc. I'm now on the hunt for theoretical works that deal with this issue and also biographical/autobiographical accounts of this phenomenon any ideas?

Rebecca

---
Nothing besides remains.
