Agenda of the Workshop:
This workshop will explore the nature of Orientalism after the debate
that followed by the publication of Edward Said=B4s book in 1978 with
regard to the scholarly tradition in the West of studying Asian
cultures, languages and societies. After then, orientalism has
vanished almost completely at most Western academic institutions.
Thus the focus will be on how orientalism has managed to survive in
various forms.
