Subject: Etymology


Hi Everyone,
I have been doing some research on Carlyle and Mill's debate on "The Negro
Question" and want to go back to the genesis of the terms 'Negro' and
'Nigger' and how it became disparaging in the 19th century. Any kind of
suggestion on where to look for the roots of this term, or relevant
information would be very helpful.
