Subject: article on war over kashmir

there is an interesting article (with fantastic photographs) about the
war over Kashmir in the latest issue of Outside Magazine. the first two
american journalists ever (or so they claim) spent two months in the
Himalayas documenting the environmental degredation, as well as
interviewing Pakistani and Indian soldiers who have spent their lives
engaged in this conflict at 19k feet and higher. in a short paragraph
the article attributes the conflict to a critical night in august of
1947, and the end of British rule but doesn't go too much beyond this
(this will probably irritate those of you who are experts in this
field).

but, assuming that many/most of us on this list don't typically read
Outside Magazine, i thought i'd mention it. at the very least, the
photographs of the war zone are worth the price of the magazine.
