Sadly, it is not a parody.  It is really there in the real New York Times.
The writer of the article, Dexter Filkins, is the same one who reported a
few days ago in the NYTimes that Iraqis in the south were nervously and
ambiguously expressing happiness at the arrival of American troops.  From
what little I know, American soldiers are given to expressing themselves as
Filkins reports.  In this respect, they are not unlike you, Maldorer.
