"NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - American television network NBC said on
Monday it had fired veteran reporter Peter Arnett after he told Iraqi
television the U.S. war plan against Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) had
failed."

salil, and other professional journalists: what do you make of the
particular journalistic issues involved here?

everyone: to what degree are newspapers/television in your parts of the
world discussing the imbrication of media/nationalism in the coverage of
this war? here in los angeles the l.a times has published a few
half-hearted editorials about the dangers of propoganda etc. and that's
about it. most people seem to take for granted that the american media
should present the american (read white house and pentagon) position.
