It has a good discussion about the concept of Shame/sharam, in the context of an attack on his sister in London, if I recall correctly. It also deals with izzat. Also, you might wish to look at an interesting book by Ian Buruma, called Wages of Guilt, in which he deals with how Germany and Japan came to terms (or not) with WW II. That book deals with the guilt/shame dichotomy -- I realize your interest is South Asia, and WW II is removed from that, and yet....
