I strenuously object to this slur on the fair country in which I live!  If
there is a statue of Queen Victoria in Palmerston North, I will go out and
buy a hat and eat it!   And I am lucky to be able to see Taranaki, as well
as Ruapehu, from my office window on a clear day.  We all call it Taranaki.
The name "Egmont" is just plain ugly.
