Dear Yvonne,

See my webpage generally for information
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~iwane/

There are also a number of relevant books and links to reviews at
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~iwane/library.html

In addition to the names you mention I would add David Lloyd, Joe
Cleary, Richard Kearney (is Seamus Deane too obvious?), Willy Maley,
Emer Nolan.

You will find some of the well known titles on the webpage but recent
books that also come to mind include:

Clare Carroll and Patricia King, Ireland and Postcolonial Theory
Elizabeth Cullingford Butler, Ireland's Others
Claire Connolly, Theorizing Ireland
Scott Brewster et a,l Ireland in Proximity
Derek Attridge and Marjorie Howes, Semicolonial Joyce
Joe Cleary, Literature, Partition and the Nation State
Maria Tymoczko and Colin Ireland, Language and Tradition in Ireland

Stephen Howe's book Ireland and Empire for a scathing critique

I also recently borrowed a book that had a few Irish essays
Ashok Bery and Patricia Murray ed. Comparing Postcolonial Literatures

Best wishes,
Gary

Hello all,

Would anyone be able to recommend any texts on Ireland and its
attitude
to authority as a postcolonial country? I am aware of Luke Gibbons's
and
Declan Kiberd's work but would be very appreciative if anyone had
other
recommendations,

regards,

Yvonne.
