How about Margaret Atwood's latest (dystopian) novel Oryx and Crake ?  It
explores connections between ecologies of place and mind, imagines genetic
engineering run amock, and anticipates large-scale environmental devastation
related to modern-day "male-driven" (one could argue) attitudes of
domination toward nature.
