just realised that you had asked for popular diasporic lit.
-the obvious would be Bharati Mukherjee's Jasmine and Cracking India by
Bapsi Sidhwa.  trauma is one of the themes in my collection of poems
'Lovers, Liars, Conjurers and Thieves' (Peepal Tree Press, 2003)
