Hi people,

I'm an Australian living in southern Brazil and doing a masters in literary
theory. I'm looking to compare the self-image of the settler-colonial
(second world) societies in Eastern Australia and Southern Brazil in the
18th and 19th centuries as they appear in the works of Patrick White
(Australia) and Erico Verissimo (Brazil). I'm concerned with the
relationships that emerge between these societies and metropolitan culture,
indigenous cultures and the land. If anyone can point me in the direction of
useful theoretical or critical stuff along these lines, I'd be very
grateful. At the moment I'm looking at Homi Bhabha and Alan Lawson.
