This book is both and original contribution to the research within what is 
called postcolonial field as well as the first danish book which treats some 
of the urgent and complex questions posed by the postcolonial critic: who 
can speak on behalf of the nation? How can national feelings be developed? 
How to place refugees and migrants in relation to nation´´s time and space?

These questions are defended through articles which vary from a study of 
Greenland´s experience in danish representational (conceptual) world to the 
american residential accounts of war in Iraq. Eurocentric history and 
imperial archives are also studied in an article about the appearance of 
historical consciuosness in Indian colonial history.
