The Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which are Canada's (Toronto's) equivalent to the American "Tony" awards, have just announced their nominations, and Ronnie Burkett's "TINKA'S NEW DRESS" garnered six -- yes, SIX -- nominations in the mid-size theatre division !!! Ronnie Burkett himself was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Play, Outstanding Set Design, and Outstanding Costume Design. TINKA'S NEW DRESS was nominated for Outstanding Production of a Play, and Brian Kerby and Cathy Nosaty were nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design and Outstanding Sound or Music, respectively. I saw this production a total of 10-1/2 times in both Toronto and Ottawa, and can personally attest to its "OUTSTANDING" nature! Many, many congratulations, Ronnie -- these nominations are well deserved, and good luck at the awards!
