Reply to Rick Krogh My wife and I are a Christian vent team that work out of the Ohio area. We were faced with the decision of "To charge or not to charge" for our programs. We ran into the same problem of free will offerings being too small but at the same time we were concerned about how much to charge. So we did both. These are not our prices but it should give you the same basic idea of what we did.

Let's say you would like to make $100 per program. You know your expenses to a given program will be $25 (fuel, wear and tear on the vehicle, ect...). So you say: Our cost is $25 AND a free will offering OR $100 flat fee. They have the option at that point to chose which way they would like to go with it. This does a couple of things for you. First, it gives them an idea of what to give you for your work and it guarantees that, at the least, your expenses will be covered.

Food for thought: I had a church call once that decided not to have us come because we charged a free will offering. (Just a straight free will, no extra expenses). They said if we didn't have a set fee we were obviously not good enough for their church. We have talked to others who have had the same situation come up. We haven't had any problems with the current setup.

I hope this is a help to you.
