Subject: New Puppet/Set Construction Web Page

Hi,

I'm toying with the idea of constructing a web page along the lines of
"THEATER BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS" - that would be devoted entirely to the
philosophies and techniques of making puppets, props, sets and entire
events out of improvised and/or nontraditional materials.

Included would be, I think, articles & links on concepts like "cheap art",
poor theater, guerilla theatres, and specific groups like Welfare State
International and Bread and Puppet, as well as how-to information on using
found /recycled/ "trash" materials and on specific materials & techniques,
etc.

The idea came when I was recently using a very useful book called "Stage
Lighting in the Boondocks" - an indispensable guide to lighting productions
with little or no resources - and it occured to me that there are very few
such resources for set/prop designers, puppeteers, etc. Since it seems to
me that puppetry is the spiritual home of such efforts, I thought I'd put
out a request for input here.

Are there ideas, articles, references or links that anyone feels ought to
be included in such a page? Would anybody out there care to contribute?
Pitfalls to avoid that I've possibly overlooked? Please contact me with
your input... the idea could take a little while to get off the ground, but
I believe that it could create a valuable resource that's just not out
there at the moment.

Thanks!
