Sears makes a remote to turn on the lights in your house from your garage door opener transmitter in your car. I tested one and was able to make it work well over 100 ft. possibly over 200 ft.This also worked when I stood on the outside of the building. What I am doing is attaching my stereo to the receiver unit. With the remote control (from the back of the church or building that we are performing in) I'm turning on the power to the stereo and have music playing for a grand entrance. I have tried many systems and this is the first one that has worked with my other systems and has gotten me this far. If you are considering getting this system, be aware of a couple of things: #1 Make certain the frequency for the unit does not match or come close to anything you currently have. (Wireless mics, cordless systems, other remote devices, ect...) #2 Get a GOOD one. I puchased a Sears Craftsman. Anouther brand I hear is good is Genie. The Radio Shack system and many other off brands simply don't have the power for this job. Also the good ones have muti-codes that you can change yourself so no one can accidently turn your system on and off. #3 The tape player must have a manual play button. If the play button is electronic it will not keep the tape player in the play position when the unit doesn't have power. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.
