Dear Hollis--
     I would say it is such a specific motion that practice is the answer.
Normally we do 30-45 minute shows, sometimes five or six a day, but after a
slack season, the arm does get a bit lazy. Of course it all depends on the
type of puppet you use, but a simple hand weight or wrist weight lifted in
the direction you normally follow in performance with about 100 repetitions
should do the job, don't y'all think so? As to the fingers, call a
therapist-- they don't make finger weights. 
     Of course when we perform Faust, which lasts two hours, nothing prepares
the arms and fingers for that except a week of rehearsals.
