Subject: Shershow book

Malgosia A. Robert S. and Mark L,

Thanks, Mark for reminding me of Malkin"s review of the Shershow book in
the "Puppetry Journal" fall 1995. Since I did not have a copy to read
until this summer (don't worry, I didn't buy one -- I ordered it for the U
library) I completely forgot the review. So, Robert, if you want to get
the book through interlibrary loan, you know there is at least one copy
here.

I guess that I was worried that I was the only person having trouble
interpreting Mr. Shershow"s vocabulary and complex sentence structure.
Malkin calls the vocabulary "academically arch" which is somewhat unclear;
I'd characterize it as abstruse: for instance, Shershow uses "discurisve"
repeatedly but with no indication as to which of th definitions he intends:
(1)digressive; rambling, or (2) proceeding by reasoning or argument. I
agree with Malkin that Sherwood's vocabulry is unnecessarily contrived and
his repetition of minute details promises some great and wondrous
revelation which is never forthcoming.

Robert, did you get the full itation off Mark's email to me? If not
re-email me and I'll get it to you.

Malgosia, what so you think about this book?

Dorlis
