The inflatable puppets (balloons) used in the closing ceremonies were
designed and maunufactured by Air Dimensional Design, Inc of Los Angeles. 

There was an article about these balloons in The Chicago Sun-Times on Aug.
11.  It seems that the designers are in town to install some other
inflatable objects for the DNC. For more information check out the

I don't have any solid info, but during the opening ceremonies, they 
made a comment that all of the puppets were made by a manufacturer 
who designs the floats and puppets for Carnival in RIO. It was a man's 
name and sounded to be of Hispanic origin..
