How many of you get mail from children after doing a show at a school
etc...?
In New Zealand, some teachers get their children to write a thankyou
letter telling me what they enjoyed about the show. So I can get about
30 letters in one envelope.
I like to write back to them because I don't think many performers do. I
would imagine if I was a child, I would get a real buzz from a performer
writing a note to me!
So, what I do when a whole class writes to me, is I make a huge cardboard
thankyou card and as I read each childs letter, I write a small note to
each of them on the card. This way they all get a personal note, but I
don't have to write 30 or more letters.
Also, when I write the notes, I change the colour of the pen and use
different hand-writing and sign the blue notes from me, the red ones from
my puppet Jeremy, black ones from my grandpa puppet etc... This way, if
they write about Jeremy, he can answer them etc... Or sometimes after I
have written a note, Jeremy can write a smart comment underneath.
What do others do? Does anyone else reply to mail? Do you like this idea?
