Welcome to the list, Nicole.  Off the top of my head, I can recommend
Peter Fraser's "Puppet Circus", published by Plays, Inc., in 1971 & 1972
ISBN 0 8238 0119 5.  Okay, it was off the top of my desk.  But!  It
really is very good for puppet joints and stringing if you have other
construction basics down already.  It may be available at the P of A
puppet store.
