Well, here is the current update on my situation. I went to the meeting
today. The producer wasn't there as I was told he would be, but at least the
main guy I deal with was. On two of the days of "consultation" he said he
wouldn't pay because he didn't think I was there for consultation and the
fact is that no meeting took place at all on those days because he wasn't
able to be there for the appointment.
My position is that I clearly communicated that this was going to be a
consultation with a 4 hr minimum charge. The fact that they didn't show up
has no bearing on me charging them for the time. Perhaps they should have
canceled the apointment. If they misunderstood the purpose of the meetings,
then it is not my fault because I was quite clear on the matter.
I did deliver the puppet back to them. And told him that I would not do
any further work untill I am paid for the time I have already logged. He
replied that he doesn't have the money to pay and is sorry that I won't be
involved for the rest of the project.
He also said he will speak with the producer, so there is the possibility
that our final decision at the past meeting will turn out to be
not-so-final... which has happened in the past several times with this company.
