Subject: Re: 101 Dalmations

David Adams points out how a lot of different techniques are used in a
film like 101 Dalmations; I find that to be a fascinating aspect of
contemporary puppetry, also present in films like _Babe_ and _Jurassic
Park_. In all of these (which center on animals....) there is the use of
live performers, mechanical puppets or automata (audioanimatronics if you
will), and computer-generated images. The same goes for _Star Wars_
(which also uses miniature stop action sequences I believe).

What I draw from this is that the most successful films (boxoffice-wise)
are dependent on various puppetry techniques; maybe we all know this, but
we certainly don't state it that much; we are quite retiring about the
importance of our work.
